SNIB Scout for iOS

Privacy Policy

How West Coast Security, Inc. handles information used by SNIB Scout for iOS and its related account, licensing, support, and security services.

Effective: September 1, 2026

Who we are

SNIB Scout for iOS is an independently developed West Coast Security, Inc. product. West Coast Security, Inc. is also referred to here as WCS, we, or us.

Questions may be sent to TechServices@wcsecurity.com or West Coast Security, Inc., 541 Taylor Way, Suite 2, San Carlos, CA 94070. Telephone: 800-421-2585.

Information we collect

  • Account information: your email address, optional display name, account and verification status, and internal account identifiers. WCS stores a salted password hash, not your password.
  • Device and session information: device identifier and name, platform, app version, registration and session dates, user agent, and protected hashes used to recognize the device and session. WCS does not store the raw session token.
  • Licensing and validation information: account, device, and product identifiers; requested capabilities; validation result; app version; IP address; user agent; and event time.
  • Support information: messages, optional diagnostic exports, presets, screenshots, or other information you choose to send to WCS for support.
  • Service and security logs: IP address, request time, app or browser details, response status, and records used to protect accounts and WCS services from abuse.
  • Apple transaction information: if an Apple purchase or subscription is available, WCS may receive an app-account token, product and transaction identifiers, notification identifier and type, subscription state, and lifecycle dates. Signed purchase and notification evidence is retained as protected hashes rather than raw signed bodies. WCS does not receive your complete payment-card number from Apple.

Local network and SNIB information

SNIB Scout discovers and works with authorized SNIB2 and SNIB3 boards on networks you select. Board addresses, identifiers, types, status, and configuration values are processed on your device to provide discovery, review, and authorized programming functions.

The app does not send discovered SNIB board data to WCS as part of normal operation. That information reaches WCS only if you intentionally include it in a support message or diagnostic export.

The current app release does not request location, microphone, or contacts access. It may request camera access only when you explicitly choose to scan a customer asset barcode or QR code. Camera and barcode data is processed on your device and is not sent to WCS during normal operation. The app does not include an advertising, tracking, or behavioral-analytics SDK.

App availability

SNIB Scout for iOS is distributed as a public App Store release. Account, licensing, purchase, and subscription features are provided through WCS services and Apple as described in this policy.

If a future release introduces materially different permissions, data collection, service providers, payment handling, or distribution channels, WCS will update this policy before those changes become publicly available.

How we use information

  • Provide sign-in, device registration, licensing, app access, and entitlement validation.
  • Operate app features on your device and maintain related account services.
  • Respond to support requests and product feedback.
  • Deliver account, security, product, and service communications.
  • Detect fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, service failures, and threats to WCS systems or customers.
  • Meet accounting, tax, legal, and regulatory obligations where applicable.

Sharing and service providers

WCS does not sell personal information and does not use SNIB Scout information for third-party advertising. We share only what is reasonably necessary with Amazon Web Services for hosting and storage, Apple for authorized purchase and subscription processing, and the configured email provider used to deliver verification and service messages.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or WCS systems, to investigate fraud or misuse, or as part of a business transaction subject to appropriate protections.

Security

WCS uses HTTPS, access controls, protected server configuration, operational logging, salted password hashing, and one-way hashes for session, device, and signed-transaction evidence. WCS does not intentionally log raw passwords, bearer tokens, signed Apple transaction bodies, or private keys. No internet service can be guaranteed completely secure, so users should also protect their email account, device, and WCS password.

Retention and deletion

Account, device, session, entitlement, support, and validation information is kept while needed to provide the app, secure the services, and support the user relationship. Security, validation, transaction, and audit records may be retained longer when needed for fraud prevention, accounting, disputes, legal obligations, and protection of WCS services; those records are not governed by a short, fixed purge period.

You may initiate a verified request to delete your SNIB Scout for iOS account and associated personal data at wcsecurity.com/snib-scout/account-deletion. WCS aims to complete verified requests within 30 days.

Deletion removes the account and associated app data under WCS control, subject to records we must retain for payment, tax, fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution, or other legal obligations. Deleting a WCS account does not cancel an Apple subscription. If you have one, manage or cancel it separately through Apple subscriptions.

Deleting the WCS account does not erase information stored only on your iPhone or iPad, including saved jobs, board notes, photos copied into the app, templates, backups, or reports. To remove that local app data, delete SNIB Scout from the device. Exports you already shared and original images retained in the Photos app are separate and are not removed by deleting the WCS account or the SNIB Scout app. Device or iCloud backups may retain copies until you remove those backups or they expire under Apple's controls.

Your choices

You may contact WCS to ask about your account information, correct information, request deletion, or stop using WCS account services. You may also choose not to send optional diagnostics or screenshots.

Children

SNIB Scout is a professional field tool and is not directed to children under 13. WCS does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be posted here and may also be communicated in the app or by email when appropriate.
