Who we are and what this policy covers
SafeHelp is provided by West Coast Security, Inc., also referred to in this policy as WCS, we, or us. This policy describes information handled by the current SafeHelp app for iPhone and iPad.
Questions may be sent to TechServices@wcsecurity.com or West Coast Security, Inc., 541 Taylor Way, Suite 2, San Carlos, CA 94070. Telephone: 800-421-2585.
No developer collection through the current app
The current SafeHelp app does not require a SafeHelp account and does not send personal information to a SafeHelp-operated server. SafeHelp does not include advertising, behavioral tracking, or developer-operated analytics.
Through the current app, WCS does not collect contact details, medical or medication information, doctor information, emergency-event history, photos, precise location, message content, or advertising identifiers.
This statement does not apply to information independently processed by Apple, a mobile carrier, a map service, or a recipient the user chooses to contact.
Information stored on the device
Depending on the features a user configures, SafeHelp may store the following information locally on the iPhone or iPad:
- User profile information and a home address
- Trusted contacts and their phone numbers
- An optional profile photo
- Medical Card information, medications, medical conditions, and allergies
- Doctors and other care-team information
- Accessibility preferences, including spoken-confirmation settings
- Medication and check-in reminder settings
- Recent app event status used to support the user's current workflow
Sensitive medical fields use device-protected local storage where implemented. The current app does not require a SafeHelp server to store or operate on this information.
Location
SafeHelp requests location only when the user initiates an action that can include location, such as requesting help, sharing where they are, or preparing directions home. SafeHelp does not use continuous background location tracking.
A user may deny location permission. Calls and alerts that do not require location can still be used. When location is included in a message, SafeHelp prepares the information for the user to review before sending it.
When the user opens directions, Apple Maps may process information under Apple's terms and privacy policy.
Trusted contacts and phone numbers
Configured trusted contacts are stored locally and used only for calls or message preparation initiated by the user. SafeHelp does not silently access, copy, or message the user's entire Contacts database.
Medical information
Medical information is optional, stored locally, and not transmitted to WCS. It may be shared with another person only when the user deliberately chooses to share it or enables its inclusion in a help message that the user reviews.
SafeHelp is a communication and accessibility aid. It is not a medical device, medical-monitoring service, or substitute for professional medical advice.
Photos
An optional profile photo can remain on the device. It may be attached to a help message only when the user enables that behavior and reviews the prepared message before sending it.
Messages, calls, Maps, AirDrop, and sharing
SafeHelp hands calls, messages, directions, AirDrop, notifications, and sharing to Apple-supported system interfaces. Apple, a mobile carrier, or a third-party recipient selected by the user may process information under its own terms and privacy policy.
SafeHelp cannot guarantee that a call, message, direction request, AirDrop transfer, notification, or shared item will be delivered, received, or acted upon.
Notifications
SafeHelp may use local notifications for medication and check-in reminders. Notification permission and presentation are controlled through Apple system settings. The current app does not require a SafeHelp server to deliver these local reminders.
Security
SafeHelp uses reasonable device-local protections appropriate to the information and features provided. No storage method or security control is completely secure. Users should protect their iPhone or iPad with a passcode and install current operating-system security updates.
Data retention and deletion
Locally stored information remains until the user edits it, resets the app's setup where that option is supported, or deletes the app. Deleting SafeHelp generally removes its local app data, subject to Apple device backups, synced copies, and operating-system behavior.
Information the user has already sent, shared, exported, or backed up may remain with Apple, a carrier, a recipient, or another service and must be managed through that party.
Children
SafeHelp can be configured for use by a child under caregiver supervision. The current app does not knowingly operate an account system or developer server that collects children's personal information.
A parent or caregiver should configure trusted contacts, emergency information, permissions, reminders, and sharing choices appropriate for the child and should supervise the child's use of the app.
Privacy choices and controls
Users can control SafeHelp information and behavior by:
- Allowing or denying location permission in Apple system settings
- Allowing, denying, or adjusting notification permission
- Choosing whether medical information is included in a prepared help message
- Choosing whether an optional profile photo is included
- Turning spoken confirmations on or off
- Adding, editing, or removing trusted contacts and saved information
- Reviewing calls, messages, locations, and shared information before completing an action
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as SafeHelp, Apple services, or applicable requirements change. The effective and last-updated dates at the top of the page identify the current version. Material changes will be posted here.
